It was so tempting for these clients to simply fill the space between the indoor pool and the kitchen extension with a large expanse of paved patio. They were so glad they didn’t, when they saw what Chiltern Garden Design had proposed for them.
A courtyard garden with spaces for lounging around a fire table and dining under an oak pergola draped in scented climbers is broken up with planting and changes to paving, softening the experience.
Paved strips lead through planting beds and past a decorative copper water feature onto a generous mown lawn on one side, and a naturalistic meadow on the other side of the original row of old orchard apple trees which have been retained as the centrepiece of the garden to give it character and maturity.
A swing seat rises above colourful planting at the end of the lawn, on a raised deck, whilst a cosy reading nook nestles into the meadow, and a pear espalier forms a screen in front of the kitchen garden, featuring a greenhouse, potting table, composting area and fruit cages.
This garden project is currently being installed Spring-Summer 23 so check our Instagram for updates.
