Swimming Pool Garden, Wooburn Green

A total garden renovation to fit this newly modernised family home.

We were approached by the client who was undertaking a total renovation of this characterful property in Wooburn Green, to redesign the garden spaces to suit her and her young family.

The house sits on a triangular plot on the edge of the River Wye, with a lovely green outlook to the front and a mostly private garden to the rear, however the side garden felt very overlooked and dominated by the gable end of the neighbouring property. Screening this so that the side garden, pool terrace and interior spaces on this side of the house felt private and comfortable to spend time in was the initial priority, with a fuller implementation of the overall design to follow.

The garden to the rear was to become a space for the kids to let off steam, with a large play lawn surrounded by easycare shrubs and grasses. The hot tub is to be relocated to a space near the house on the rear terrace. The side garden will become a more grown up space, with lawn paths meandering through lushly planted borders towards a riverside seating area and firepit. The master bedroom has access onto a roof space, which will be transformed into a private roof terrace with comfortable seating, planters and lighting.

Works on the spaces adjacent to the house began in summer 2025. We personally selected trees with the client at one of the best tree nurseries in the country to address the immediate screening issue. A disused gazebo was removed and the terraces around the pool and the rear of the house have been completely repaved with a beautiful limestone, inlaid with textural ‘stackers’ to form characterful patterns around the pool and as a textured ‘rug’ where the outdoor dining area is to be positioned.

This autumn we planted more trees to create a woodland edge effect, with the bulk of the new planting to be installed in spring 2026. Watch this space or follow our updates on Instagram.
