This lovely barn in central Marlow benefitted from a tiny courtyard garden, and the owners had just acquired a new additional parcel of land next to it, where they wanted to create a garden to enjoy into retirement. Chiltern Garden Design proposed a Mediterranean Garden scheme that particularly fitted the aspect, the soil and the feel of this walled garden space, which the clients loved, and are keen to start building once their extension to the barn is complete.
Statuesque pencil cypresses pierce the design and add structure to a soft planting scheme of low lying plants through gravel. A triple jet water feature adds relaxing sound and movement to the scheme, whilst helping to mask noise in this town centre location. The sandstone paving is linear and runs leisurely from the new bespoke wrought iron gate from the courtyard to a relaxed seating area under an oak and steel pergola. The design provides year round interest from spring bulbs through to summer colour and scent, into autumn and beyond.
We look forward to updating you on the build as it progresses next year.
